TBG question on Endocrine test #1

It was brought to my attention by one of your classmates that there was a typo on the question that asked what you should expect to see in a patient with elevated TBG. The correct answer is DECREASED, not increased total T3 levels. As I know that you are aware, TBG is a transport protein that binds to thyroid hormones and renders them inactive as they are transported....so you can have normal (or even elevated) T4, but since so much is bound, the levels of free hormone are decreased because the TBG is inactivating it.

Patients who are pregnant or taking OCPs can have elevated TBG and subsequently may have a normal TSH, normal/elevated T4 and low T3.

I have regraded the test and you some of you will see an positive adjustment in your grade. I apologize for the error on my part.
Enjoy the rest of your long weekend,
