Please note these changes/additions to slide #12 in the Acute Kidney Injury lecture:
*Decreased glomerular perfusion pressure
by constriction
of
the afferent arteriole by NSAIDs
*AKI/Kidney
failure is especially at risk if the patient is also concomitantly taking an
NSAID and an ACEI (which removes angiotensin II’s vasoconstriction of the
efferent arteriole) and a diuretic….the so-called “triple
whammy effect)
